Making a difference to the BSL community, thanks to Great Linford Parish Council

We're excited to announce that we've been awarded funding by Great Linford Parish Council to host a community health and patient experience event for the D/deaf community, with British Sign Language interpreters.

The competition to receive funding is always extremely tough, with so many worthy organisations applying for financial contributions towards important community projects.

We're grateful to Great Linford Parish Council, for recognising the importance of meeting the health needs of our D/deaf community in Milton Keynes.

Plans are underway to hold an event for early in the New Year, and we'll be updating our website and social media as we know more.

Supporting residents who need a BSL interpreter

Having spoken with many of our D/deaf communities, we know that people are so used to not having accessible British Sign Language communication that, unless an event is specifically aimed at them with the appropriate levels of interpreters, they will not just ‘turn up’. hoping there is a way they may understand and take part.

Therefore, D/deaf residents miss out on relevant, valuable health information news and updates that concern them.

We are committed to changing this. This year, we've already won a 'highly commended' award from Healthwatch England for our work with patients who need BSL interpreters.

We're excited to do more!
