We are your local independent champion for users of health and social care services. We work actively across Milton Keynes to make sure that all local people get to have their say on health and social care.
We rely on support from volunteers to deliver our work. When you join our volunteering team, we’ll help you to develop useful skills and add new experiences to your CV.
At the same time, you’ll be supporting our small team in making a difference to the way health and social care is delivered for the residents of Milton Keynes.
Why volunteer?
You don’t need any specific skills or qualifications to volunteer with us, but you will:
- Gain knowledge about health and social care.
- Develop skills in an area of charity or business you’d like to develop, personally or professionally.
- Make a positive difference within your MK community.
- Be part of a friendly, passionate and determined team.
- Build your confidence.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds from across Milton Keynes. We’ll give you all the training and support you’ll need, and we pay for your out-of-pocket expenses.
You can help in so many ways
There are lots of ways you can volunteer with us, and you can choose a role that matches your interests.
Are you a people person – how about running your own, or helping out at local events, raising awareness of Healthwatch Milton Keynes and collecting information about the quality of care in MK?
Are you a computer person? If you have, or want to further develop your skills in data analytics or analytics software, digital communication and marketing, you could support us to collate and report our impact in the community.
Great at conversation and keen to put your observational skills to use? Then you could support our statutory Enter and view visits to care homes, GP services, hospitals and more, as one of our Authorised Representatives.
Do you have lived experience managing a long-term condition, or are you a carer etc? You can join our Patient and Carer Panel and inform our priorities and activities.
You don’t have to commit to one volunteering role, and it’s up to you how much time you give. Last year, our volunteers gave 97 days to help make a difference to local health and care services.

Are you feeling inspired?
We're not like other charities.
We receive funding to deliver statutory functions, to ensure that health and social care services meet the needs of the people using them. Our funding is limited, and it is only with support from volunteers in our community that we can represent our whole population effectively.
If you’re interested in volunteering with us with us, please complete our online volunteer application form and our equality and diversity forms online.
