Diabetes research in Milton Keynes
In collaboration with Health Innovation East (HIE) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), we raised awareness of diabetes research opportunities in Milton Keynes.

The project was funded by Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Integrated Care Board (ICB) Research Engagement Network (REN).
What did we do?
We wanted to increase diversity in medical research participation, with a specific focus on raising awareness of type 2 diabetes research amongst minority ethnic communities. This is to ultimately ensure that research plays a key role in reducing persistent health inequalities.
Our aims:
- Grow local research engagement networks with underserved communities.
- Embed diversity into research within Integrated Care Systems' (ICS) operations/governance structures.
- Increase opportunities and inclusivity for people from underserved communities to take part in research.
